Occupational therapy treatments

Targeted occupational therapy is designed for people with neurological disorders or damage to the central nervous system, as well as for patients who experience limitations in their ability to perform daily activities. In addition, our occupational therapy program also treats people with age-related difficulties.

Occupational Therapy

Action-Oriented Therapy

To help restore lost functional abilities, we work with patients to develop individualized strategies that help them overcome limitations. These approaches are then gradually integrated into their daily lives. Our occupational therapy treatment methods include:

  • Bobath Method
  • Assistive device consultation
  • Mirror therapy
  • Action-oriented assessment and therapy
  • Concentration and cognitive training
  • Activities of Daily Living Training
  • Robotics

We closely monitor the therapies through assessments such as questionnaires to evaluate current quality of life, strength measurements, and scientifically based tests. This allows us to measure improvements in health status. Another key factor for successful therapy is close coordination with the treating physician.

Self-Sufficiency and Quality of Life

Activity-based therapy aims to promote and improve self-care and quality of life for those affected. This includes social integration and the ability to perform daily activities satisfactorily. We will continue to support you as needed even after therapy has ended. To help you maintain your improved health on a long-term basis, the rehabilitation center remains at your disposal.

Cognitive Training

In the occupational therapy department of our rehabilitation center, we offer structured cognitive training focused on various cognitive domains:

  • Attention and concentration
  • Memory
  • Executive functions
  • Dual-task abilities (e.g., simultaneous motor and cognitive demands)

Depending on each patient’s individual needs and preferences, we use various training methods:

  • Traditional pen-and-paper tasks
  • Evidence-based computer programs (e.g., Freshminder, Cogniplus)
  • Interactive training systems (e.g., MYRO, Dividat)

In addition, we provide guidance on suitable apps and practical exercises for independent cognitive training at home.

Another focus is on interventions relevant to daily life, including:

  • Training in spatial orientation (practicing routes together, including using public transportation)
  • Planning actions in everyday situations, e.g.,
    • Household management
    • Meal preparation

Technology-Assisted Therapy

Using technology-assisted training systems, we specifically target the function of the upper extremities as well as various cognitive abilities such as attention, memory, and concentration. Thanks to our motivating, playful approach and the ability to tailor the program to individual needs, we provide effective, real-life, and measurable training for adults.

Energy and Break Management

We help patients manage their energy effectively and prevent burnout. Through structured activity planning, setting priorities, and taking intentional breaks, we support you in reducing fatigue and sustainably increasing your resilience in everyday life.

Exploration Training for Neglect

For individuals with impaired perception on one side of the body or in one direction, we provide targeted training in visual search and spatial orientation. This training takes place using various indoor equipment as well as in outdoor settings that mimic real-life situations. As a result, patients improve their ability to direct attention toward the affected side, their spatial orientation, their confidence in performing tasks, and their ability to independently manage everyday activities.

Neurofunctional Training

In occupational therapy, we offer neurofunctional training specifically designed for rehabilitation following neurological conditions. Through targeted exercises aimed at improving movement, coordination, and cognitive abilities, we help our patients regain their independence in daily life and achieve a lasting improvement in their quality of life.

Perfetti Concept

The goal of cognitive rehabilitation according to Perfetti is to reorganize the nervous system, which is in a pathological state following an injury. The central nervous system is stimulated through the targeted activation of cognitive processes in patients. This is intended to bring about changes in the brain and in muscle contractions that enable movement patterns that are as physiological as possible.

Fall Prevention

•    Nearly one in three people over the age of 65 falls each year.
•    94% of falls occur in the home.
•    90% of hip fractures are caused by a fall.

Occupational therapists assess an individual’s risk of falling and demonstrate exercises for the following areas: balance, coordination, and strength. They also inspect the home for fall hazards such as dim lighting, tripping hazards on the floor, or a lack of handholds.

Progressive Muscle Relaxation

Progressive muscle relaxation is a proven, effective relaxation method for the entire body. It is also known as progressive muscle relaxation (PMR). By deliberately relaxing the muscles, this technique strengthens one’s ability to cope with stress, increases emotional resilience, promotes inner peace, and relieves psychological tension and anxiety.
